Mumbai earlier known as Bombay is the capital of state of Maharashtra. Mumbai is the economic capital of India, no wonder it is the wealthiest cities of the country and it is the biggest metropolitan city of India. The city ranks 8th amongst the most populous city of the world. Being the economic capital of India it is the home of financial institutions like Reserve bank of India, National Stock Exchange, and Bombay Stock Exchange. Mumbai draws its existence from seven islands which comprised of 7 islands. Mumbai was mostly developed by Portuguese and later of British Empire. The English people indulged in frequent clashes with Portuguese people in order to take siege of Bombay as the city linked other were on the coast of Arabian Sea. During 17th century Bombay was completely under the control of England. Bombay began a big place for trade and commerce and during 18th century Bombay took its shape and gradually became what its today.

There are endless things to do in Mumbai. First and the foremost Things to do is travel in Mumbai local train. Believe me you would find yourself living up with the spirit of Mumbai. The city is magnificient during nights especially along the sea shore. Paav Bhaji the delicacy of Mumbai must be tried. It is a form of bread and bhaaji is prepared from 10-12 vegetables. Whether you are vegetarian or a Non-vegetarian you will find your space in Dalal Street. Mumbai is well known for its street food and it’s just awesome over here. As far as shopping is concerned you can get varieties over here. In Fashion street you would find fake version of any big brand clothing in much less price. Linking road is one of the busiest markets of Mumbai. Flocking with latest fashion clothes and street food stalls serving Vada paav to fried Chicken Linking road is just great. Colaba causeway market is a major attraction of tourists as it is center of jewellary, brass items, and handicrafts. Etc. but yes don’t forget to bargain.

Gateway of India:

Gateway of India is known as the ‘symbol of Mumbai’. A monument erected next to the sea side gives a magnificient look at the night. It depicts the architecture of both Indian and the European style. It is one of the most picturesque place in the city and an ideal place for clicking few pics. Just walk around by the sea-side and you will forget everything.

Siddhivinayak Temple:

It is a very famous Hindu temple devoted to Lord Ganesha situated in Prabhadevi area of Mumbai. Since last few years it has emerged as the biggest and the richest temple of Mumbai. Right from a mason to filmstars, politicians, everyone visits the temple to take the blessings of Lord Ganesha.

Marine drive:

Without Marine drive the journey to Mumbai won’t be complete. Marine drive is a approx. 5 km of a wide concrete road just along the sea side. The road connects Nariman point to Malabar hill. At one end there is a place called Chowpatty beach which attracts many people in the evening. It remains most expensive area of Mumbai because of its scenic beauty.

Haji Ali dargah:

Haji Ali Dargah is one of the most spiritual places in the city. It is a tomb of a sufi saint Haji Ali Shah located of the coast of worli. As the tomb is built in an islet which is just 500 Mts. From the coast so the during the high tides the tomb is not reachable and thus only during low tides you can reach there. The way to the shrine with sea on both the sides is a remarkable experience.

Mount Mary Church:

It is a Roman Catholic Basilica situated in Bandhra location of Mumbai. The Church was built in 16th century by Portugals who bought the statue. Bandhra fair is being organised for a week on the occassion of Virgin marry birthday. Bandhra fair is attended by thousands of people.

Bombay Stock Exchange:

India’s first stock exchange established in 1875 is situated in old Mumbai at Dalal Street. More than 4500 companies are listed on B.S.E. The 28 floor Phiroze jeejeebhoy towers houses B.S.E. and it is a must visit for the people who are somewhere related withor who are interested in financial services.
