Lucknow is the capital city of Uttar Pradesh state. A state which is famous for its culture and the state plays an important role in Indian politics. Lucknow is a city which experiences all the four weathers like summer, winters, rainy, autumn etc. The ideal time to visit this city is from October to March. Lucknow is surrounded by cities like Unnao, Barabanki, Sitapur, Hardoi. It is easily reachable form all parts of India. Historically the city was ruled by Mughals & afterwards Nawabs of Awadh. But later on in 1857 it fell completely under British Raj. Lucknow is a home to different dialects and is a mix of Hindu and Awadhi culture. Lucknawi Tehzeeb is famous worldwide and the residents of this city are known for their politeness.

Lucknow is famous for its chicken embroidery works. It is 400 year old art form developed in Lucknow and is still present in the city. People from all over the world visit here and buy kurta, saris and other embroidered garments. Chowk bazaar is a big market place of old Lucknow where you can find these clothing. Tired of roaming and shopping??? If you feel hungry then world famous Tunday kababi is the one stop place for all the meat lovers. Galawati kabab of Tunday is known for its taste worldwide and tourists always taste these kababs. This restaurant is over 100 years old and still has maintained the standards. Lucknowi biryani is also liked by all the meat lovers. Nihari kulchaa is a gravy of lambs shanks and an Awadhi form of bread. Praksh Kulfi in Aminabad area should certainly not be left. After enjoying a hefty meal Kulfi of prakash is an idea to end the day.

In addition to the places mentioned above, there are several other places which are sure to be visited. Lucknow zoo is beautiful and wild animals are kept in a good condition. Residency Building which was built by the British during their rule should not be forgotten. It is a few kms. Away from Imam Bara and you can see the artilleries and letters during the British Rule. There is a museum inside Residency where these things are kept safely and are open for public viewing. Lal Baradari is another gem of the city. Built by nawab Sadat Ali khan it is a kind of museum where portraits are kept of the people who were major administrators of Oudh. St. Joseph’s Cathedral is a beautiful church located in the heart of Lucknow. Hazratganj, the area in which this church is located is a busy market place and is known as the best market of the city. Ambedkar park is another place to visit. This place is not historic but it is beautiful. Surrounded by statue of the elephants and marbles, it is a place where you would love to spend your evenings. Husainabad Clock tower is another remarkable monument by British. It is located near Rumi Darwaza and is 67 Metre high clock with the pendulum at a length of 14 feet.

Lucknow boasts of finest architecture of Mughal era. Like Asafi Imam Bara which is a wide hall without any pillars or ground support built by nawab Asaf-ud-Daula. Inside Imam Bara there is a labyrinth in which there are 4 similar ways of entrance for each of the door and there are numerous ways inside the building. It is a must visit for any of the tourist. Near imam Bara there stands 60 ft. tall Rumi Gate which is also called ‘Pride of Lucknow’ built by the same nawab. Chhota Imam Bara is also nearby and the old belongings of Mughal dynasty can be seen here. La Martiniere College should also be visited. It is one of the oldest schools of India and it depicts Indian and European Culture.
