Jaipur - The Pink City of India

Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan State and is also known as ‘the pink city’ of India for most of the buildings and forts of Udaipur are painted in pink color. the city of Jaipur was founded by Raja Jai Singh 2 who was the ruler of Amer. Maharaja Jai Singh was a lover of Astronomy, mathematics and physics took help of Vidyadhar Bhattacharya, a Bengali scholar to erect many palaces of Udaipur including the royal palace in the heart of the city. The construction of Udaipur started in 1727 and it was made on according to the principles laid by ‘Shilpa Shastra’, the science of Indian Architecture. The people of Udaipur are mostly Marwaris who are businessman by profession and earlier they used to be local bankers. The climate of Jaipur is good and during the monsoon season heavy rainfall is seen frequently. So best time to visit Jaipur is from the month of November to February.

Jaipur is full of colors and the city is bustling with markets. M.I Road is one of the markets which tourist look for. Jewellery, Rajasthani handicrafts and branded apparels are the main products of this market. Leading food joints like McDonalds, Pizza Hut are also present in this circle. Johri bazaar is the leading market for lehengaas, gems and jewellery. Badi Chaupar is a market where you can find Lac bangles, Salwar Suit etc. As far as fooding is concerned if you are looking for typical Rajasthani food then try Daal Baati Choorma and missi roti. Among Sweet dish Ghevar is the most sought after. It is a dish made up of sugar syrup, flour and dry fruits. Kullhad Lassi with malai at Panch batti circle should definitely not to be missed.

City palace Jaipur includes Chandra Mahal & Mubarak Mahal .This palace was built by Sawai jai Singh 2. The monument comprises of palaces, temples, gardens .Though Most of the City palace remain as a royal residence to the Royal family of Jaipur but there is a museum too for the history lovers.

This palace was built by Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799. The palace is made up of pink and red colored sandstone. The palace was specially built so that royal women of that time can see through the road side but nobody from the road could see these royal women. So there are too many windows in the palace which also made cool breeze to flow in the palace.

Amer fort was built 11 Kms. Away from the city of Jaipur by Raja Man Singh 1 in the village of Amer. This fort is well known for its architecture style and it houses Diwan-e-aam, Diwan-e-khas and Sheesh Mahal. Beautiful Maota Lake flows along the side of Amer Fort.

Jal Mahal is situated in the mid of man Sagar Lake in the city of Jaipur. The Mahal is the most picturesque monument in the city. The Man Sagar Lake went total renovation like slit was removed from the lake; system of water treatment was developed in the lake which attracts the migration of birds due to which beauty of the Jal Mahal enhances further.

Jantar Mantar was built by Sawai Jai Singh and the monument holds a great religious significance as it was used by various astronomers to make calculations. It comprises of 14 major geometric devices used for measuring time and other mathematical aspects.

This museum is the oldest museum of Rajasthan and is also known as govt. central museum. The museum boasts of a extreme collection of paintings, stones and other things which reminds of the history of Jaipur.
